Spinlets Private Beta - The First Exclusive Glimpse
May 24, 2007
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I have previously written about Spinlets and I promised I would tell you more once I gained access to the private beta. Well that just happened, so here is a fresh look at Spinlets.com current and future features.
Interested in beta testing?
Let me start out by saying this looks very promising. I know I tend to say that a lot, but I’m a Web 2.0-applications-coholic. I only write about start-ups and betas that make me happy and your day easier or funnier. Anyway Spinlets is still in private beta, but I will still reveal a couple of details. If you are interested in testing Spinlets contact them directly on Spinlets.com.

A Few Web 2.0 Sites to Make Your Life Easier
May 23, 2007
Don’t you just hate it? You hear a song somewhere, but you don’t know who made it, or there is a certain melody in your head and you can’t remember the name of it. Well fear not. iden.tify.us is here to help you find people, that can help you identify that song or melody. It works really simple. You can get your song identified in three ways:
- You can upload the mp3, supply as much information as possible, tag it and put it into a genre.
- Link to an online video using the embed code from YouTube or another video site, supply as much information as possible again, tag it and put it in a genre
- If you haven’t got any of it you can simply describe it as best you can and hope the best.
The other Web 2.0 site I will show you today is Sclipo. Don’t know how to make the perfect beard shave, how to make caramel chicken, give a professionel massage or extract backgrounds from images - Sclipo has the answer. It features user-submitted tutorials on every possible topic. You can either use tags or the search function to find useful (and sometime useless) tutorials.
Do you know any other websites that makes your every day easier?

Spock - The People Search Engine
May 17, 2007
A few minutes ago I got an invitation to join the beta test of Spock. Naturally I signed up. I have 3 invitations that I am giving away, but please read this article first.
Let me give you a brief description of Spock.
Spock is the people search engine, you can search for a specific person - nothing new there. More importantly, you can search for a class of person, say actors or politicians or people associated with a topic like Victoria’s Secret (no pun intended Spock developers). Spock created tags for any person it finds from Wikipedia, IMDb.com, forbes.com, people.com, you name it and social networking sites like Myspace, Linkind, Facebook and even the person’s own homepage. Users can also add their own tags and vote on existing tags to strengthen the association between the topics and people.

Giving Away Joost Inviations
May 7, 2007
I’ve been a Joost beta tester since autumn and from time to time I get several beta invitations to sent out.
So right now I have four invitations waiting to be mailed. Until now I’ve given them to my friends but I thought I would try to give some away through my blog.
So the first four to post a comment will get an invitation, that shouldn’t keep you from commenting though since I will get a new bunch of invitations again.

Early Prototype Of FireFox Coop Released
April 7, 2007
More news about Mozilla Coop from TechCrunch:
Firefox’s exploration of bringing social networking features into the browser has moved forward a step. There is now a very rough prototype of “Coop” available as a Firefox Add-on that tries out some of the ideas discussed on the Firefox Labs wiki.
The Add-on can be downloaded here. Only early adopters who want to see what Firefox is up to will be interested in trying this out - for now it simply pulls some basic Facebook functionality into the browser.
But it does show what the product might eventually look like. The Add-on prompts you to log into Facebook. It then pulls all of your facebook friends into the sidebar. You can share any link, photo or video with a friend by simply dragging it into their picture.
I’m looking forward to watching this develop. Screenshots of the Add-on are below.

Keep Track of Your Friends with The Coop - Social Browser
April 4, 2007
I've previously mentioned Flock on this page. I use it to upload pictures to Flickr and to manage a couple of other blogs like bdfritid.dk and pfvejle.dk
I found the below mentioned piece of information on Techcrunch (yes its my favourite site)
Mozilla has released details on The Coop, a new product that will incorporate social networking features directly into the Firefox browser. This is not good news for the privately-backed social browser Flock (also built on Mozilla), which is yet to release a 1.0 version of its browser. Many of the proposed features and some of the mockups created by Mike Beltzner (see above) suggest a significant overlap in the two products.
In fact, Coop even has an example screen shot of Flock on the wiki page describing the product, along with the description “The design will likely resemble [formerly of Flock] Chris Messina’s mockup for “People in the Browser”, with a horizontal bar containing avatars for a user’s friends, and icons overlaid on those avatars to indicate the presence of new content.”
The Coop product will allow Firefox users to “subscribe” to friends in the browser, bringing those friends into a sidebar. Those friends can share content and web pages with you (receive content from you, and send content to you).
Adding a friend will mean getting access to a broad array of their published web content. Content will be pulled from that person’s Flickr photo feed, del.icio.us tag feed, MySpace status , YouTube favorites, etc. When you want to share content with that user, you simply drag it into their avatar (see mockups below).
